如何培养和掌握阅读的技巧

  掌握阅读的技巧

  在英语阅读教学中,教师应该教给学生一些阅读的技巧。只有熟练掌握英语阅读技巧的学生,才能高效率地阅读。下面介绍几种阅读技巧:

  1. 猜测词义是加强阅读速度的有效手段

  掌握一些猜测生词词义的方法,对排除阅读中某些生词的干扰、加强阅读能力具有十分重要的意义。有些单词的意思可以通过上下文中的一些线索和提示猜测出来。

  例如,有一篇阅读理解:The woman was at the cinema, and she was enjoying the film very much. But there was a man in the next seat, and he began looking on the floor under him. The woman became angry and whispered, What are you doing there? What are you looking for? 让学生猜测whisper这个词的意思,A. 大声地说 B. 低声地说C. 愉快地说。我们从上下文中知道,这个妇女和男士在电影院,而在电影院中人们只能低声地说话,所以很容易就能猜测出这道题应该选B。

  又如,有一篇文章:Jan works at a university as a student counsellor. Students can come and see her if they need help or advice. I asked her when her office was open and what sort of problems students had. I am here every day during the week, and my colleague is here in the evenings and at weekends. There is also an emer-gency telephone number at night.题目:What does the word emergency mean? A.热线 B.咨询 C.紧急 D.求救。从文章中知道,深夜打电话应该比较紧急,故选C。

  2. 学会辨别起连接作用的词语

  这些词在句子中、句子之间或段落之间起连接作用。最常用的有:and, but, because, so。这些词可以帮助学生预见下一部分句子的含义。

  例如,She is usually prompt for all her class, but today she arrived in the middle of her first class. but 一词表转折,因此but 前后的意思正相反。后半句的意思是她今天 第一节课上了一半才来 ,因此反向推理,可得出她平时一向 准时 的结论。

  又如,I had broken my glasses, so I could not see what was happening. so一词表示因果关系,由前半句原因可以猜测到后半句的结果。

  3. 抓主题句是掌握文章大意的主要方法

  主题句一般出现在文章的开头或结尾。例如,一篇题为 How to be a good student 的文章中,第二段To take care of one s own body is another important thing for good student to do. Anyone, who hasn t got a strong body, can do nothing for his country, even if he has much knowledge. There was a man, who, when he was a student, studied hard but neglected his health. No sooner did he come to serve the country than he died of poor health. From this we may see that to have a strong body is really very important for a student.划线的句子即为这一段的主题句。只要学生理解了这一句,就抓住了这一段的主要内容。
